Welcome to our Beautiful Lake

New to the area??  Been here long?? Either way, let's get acquanted!

The "Friends of Lake Mattoon" is an organization made up of people who are interested in the preservation and improvement of the lake we love.

There is no central gathering place for us lake people other than different "clubs".  This is a good opportunity to join with a neighbor, make new friends and at the same time do some good for our local environment.

We get together at least 4 times a year.  We have potlucks.  We have speakers with informational talks about bank-site erosion remedies.  We also review safety rules for living and having fun at the lake.  We get together for Clean-Up days for the roadside areas around the lake.  (Notice the signs on the Marina road that says ("ADOPTED BY FRIENDS OF LAKE MATTOON").  We have funded fish stocking and have a co-operative relationship with the city of Mattoon.

COME JOIN US !!! Get acquanted, have a good time and help keep Lake Mattoon good for us and the next generation.
